This simple little title sequence has received quite a positive response since I posted it on Vimeo.

It uses the new Streaklet particle that comes with Trapcode Particular 2 to create dynamic lines in 3D space. Interestingly, these lines are not random (as in most ‘light streak’ tutorials) but created using a null object to define a motion path. Particular is then linked to the x,y,x position of the null using simple expressions (done by using the pick whip).

You don’t just have to use the wiggle() expression to create Light streaks. Try using null objects to define your own paths in 3D space.

I also made use of Video Co-pilot’s excellent Sure Target 2 plugin. Sure Target automatically creates smooth and seamless camera movements from one object to the next. So in this example, I positioned all the titles and then simply used the plugin to get me from one to the other.

I’ve made the project files available for download, well, actually, it’s just one CS4 After Effects file. You will also need to install the Sure Target 2 plugin and if you don’t have Trapcode Particular 2 installed, go grab the free fully functional trial version.
